Working with T-codes
The Main Menu, the command field, favorites, sessions, keyboard shortcuts and the status bar.
Every function in BERIFFA Keystone is a transaction with a short code, a T-code. You start it from the Main Menu, from your favorites, or by typing the code in the command field.
The session window
- Menu bar: File, Edit, Favorites, Tools, Window and Help. The coloured badge on the right shows the system: DEV purple, QAS orange, PRD neutral.
- Standard toolbar: the Enter button, the command field, then Save, Back, Exit, Cancel and more. Greyed-out buttons do nothing on the current screen.
- Title: the name of the current screen.
- Application toolbar: the buttons of the current screen, for example Execute.
- Screen area: the transaction itself. The first screen is the BERIFFA Main Menu.
- Status bar: messages and session information.
The BERIFFA Main Menu
The Main Menu is the first screen of every session. On the left is a tree with two folders: Favorites, the transactions you saved, and BERIFFA Menu, all transactions your roles allow on this system, sorted into folders such as Projects, Time Recording and Tools. Your company's own T-codes appear in the folders your administrator chose for them.
- Double-click a transaction, or select it and press Enter, to start it.
- The menu comes from the system when you log on. Press F5 on the Main Menu to read it again at once, for example after you got a new role.
- Greyed entries cannot be started here. Point at one with the mouse to see why.
- Tools ▸ Settings ▸ Show transaction codes puts the T-code in front of each menu entry, for example TIME – Enter Times.
The command field
Type a T-code in the command field and press Enter; upper or lower case does not matter. Ctrl+L jumps to the command field on every keyboard (Ctrl+/ works too, and Ctrl+Shift+7 on Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and German keyboards). F4 in the field shows your previous entries.
PROF Start PROF in this session
/nPROF Leave the current transaction and start PROF

/oPROF Start PROF in a new session window

/nex Log off immediately, without a confirmation
/*PRJ Start the transaction and skip its first screenThe program checks every code against your list of transactions on that system. A code that is not in your list says "You are not authorized to use transaction XXXX", also when the code does not exist, so nobody can find out which codes exist. If an administrator gave you a T-code while you are logged on, simply type it: the program asks the system again.
"Transaction XXXX is not supported by this program version" means that you may use the T-code, but your program is older than your system. Update the program.
Favorites
- Add: select a transaction and click Add to Favorites (or Favorites ▸ Add). Inside a transaction, Favorites ▸ Add adds the current one.
- Delete: select it under Favorites and click Delete Favorite.
- You can have up to 100 favorites. They are saved on the system, per user, so they follow you to every PC where you log on to that system. Each system (DEV, QAS, PRD) has its own favorites.
- A favorite you can no longer use stays in the list, greyed, so you can see it and delete it.
Sessions
- A session is one window. You can have up to 6 sessions per logon, each running a different transaction.
- New session: Ctrl+N, the New Session button, Window ▸ New Session, or /o plus a T-code.
- Switch or end sessions with /o or Window ▸ Session List. Close one with /i, Window ▸ Close Session or by closing its window.
- Closing the last session window logs you off, after a confirmation.
- You can be logged on to several systems at the same time, for example DEV and PRD. The badge and the status bar show which system a window belongs to.
Keyboard shortcuts
- Enter: confirm or check input; in a list or menu, open the selected line.
- F1: help for the current screen.
- F3: back. Shift+F3: exit the transaction. On the Main Menu both log off, after a confirmation.
- F12: cancel, leave the screen without saving.
- Ctrl+S: save. F8: execute.
- F4: choose from a list in fields that offer one; in the command field, your previous entries.
- F5 on the Main Menu: read the menu and your favorites again.
- Ctrl+N: new session. Page Up and Page Down: previous and next page.
- Insert: switch between insert and overwrite mode.
Screens where you enter data ask before unsaved changes are lost.
Messages and the status bar
Read the status bar after every action. From left to right it shows:
- The last message, with an icon for its type: Success (green), Information (blue), Warning (orange) or Error (red).
- The alarm indicator, "Notices: N". Grey means no notices, blue information (for example a system message or an available update), yellow at least one warning, and red that the system is read-only because of its licence. Click it to open the system messages and licence notices (MSGS).
- The system and session number, for example PRD (1), your user name and the server's address.
- INS or OVR: insert or overwrite mode.
Help
- Help ▸ Application Help (F1) explains the current screen.
- Help ▸ System Status opens STAT with your program version, the system, how you are logged on and the licence state. Have it ready when you contact support.
- Help ▸ System Messages opens MSGS: the system messages and your licence notices.
- Help ▸ About BERIFFA Keystone shows the version and build.
- If something goes wrong, the program writes log files to %LocalAppData%\BERIFFA\ERP\logs (kept 14 days). Support may ask for them.
