T-code types
Built-in transactions and your company's own T-codes: Documentation, External link, Web page, Script and Report.
BERIFFA Keystone has two kinds of T-codes: built-in transactions, delivered with every system, and your company's own T-codes, created in TCOD. Which ones you see depends on your roles. Press F1 on any screen for its own help.
Built-in transactions
- PROF, Own User Data: your user name, name, e-mail, sign-in method, roles and defaults. Read-only; Change Password opens the password change page.
- STAT, System Status: program and server versions, the system, how you are logged on and the licence state. Check for Updates looks for a new version now.
- MSGS, System Messages: the messages your administrator published, then the licence notices for you.
- USER, ROLE, TCOD and LIC: administration, see For administrators.
- PRJ, PRJE, TIME and TAPR: example modules for projects and time recording (project overview, creating and editing projects, entering times and approving times), in the menu folders Projects and Time Recording.
Your company's own T-codes
Your administrator or a T-code developer creates T-codes in TCOD. Their codes start with Z or Y, for example ZHANDBOOK. You start them like any other transaction. The program reads them from the system each time you start them, so you always get the latest version. There are five kinds.
Documentation
A formatted page inside the window: headings, lists, tables, bold text and pictures from the web. Links open in your web browser, and F3 takes you back. If a text is too complex to be formatted within a few seconds, the program shows it exactly as written and says so in the status bar; tell the person who maintains the T-code.
External link
Nothing changes in the window: the address opens in your web browser, and the status bar says that it was opened there.
Web page
A web page inside the window, with Back, Forward, Reload and Open in Browser in the application toolbar. Links inside the page stay in the window; a link that opens a new window opens in your web browser instead. F3 takes you back.
Script (PowerShell or Python)
A script T-code runs a small program on your PC, with your Windows rights: it can read and change what you can read and change. Only administrators can create scripts. The screen shows exactly what will run: the interpreter on your PC, the command and its arguments, a fingerprint (SHA-256) that changes with every change of the script, the time limit (normally 10 minutes) and whether you approved this version.
- The first time you start the T-code on a PC, and again after any change of the script or its arguments, an orange box asks for your approval and the Script tab shows the script. Read it.
- Click Approve and Run (or press F8) only if you trust it; Cancel (or F3) leaves without running anything. Your approval is remembered on this PC for this system, your user and this T-code. Nobody can approve for you.
- While the script runs, its output appears in the Output tab, errors in red. Stop ends the script and every program it started.
- When it has ended, the exit code is shown: 0 usually means success. Every run is recorded in the system's audit log.
PowerShell is part of Windows. Python scripts need Python 3 from python.org, installed with the py launcher option.
Report
A report asks the system for data and shows the answer as a list. The system runs it read-only: a report can never change data.
- Sort: click a column header. Click again for the other direction, and a third time for the original order.
- Filter: type a text and press Enter to keep only the rows that contain it, in all columns or in the one chosen under "in". For numbers, dates and times you can also compare, for example >100, >=7.5 or <>0. Clear Filter shows all rows again.
- Totals: the bold Total line adds up the number columns of the rows shown.
- Copy: select rows and press Ctrl+C to paste them into Excel or an e-mail.
- Export: save the rows shown, with your filter and sorting, as an Excel workbook (.xlsx) or a CSV file.
- Execute (F8) runs the report again; your sorting and filter stay.
A report returns at most a fixed number of rows (normally 10,000) and is stopped when it takes too long (normally after 15 seconds). Times are shown in your PC's time zone.
Safety rules
- The program opens only secure web addresses (https://) from a T-code. Any other kind of address is refused, and the status bar asks you to contact the person who maintains the T-code.
- Documentation pages never run scripts.
- Documentation and Web page T-codes need the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which the installer adds when it is missing. Without it, Documentation shows the plain text and a Web page offers Open in Browser.
