BERIFFA Keystone FAQ & troubleshooting
Answers to common questions, and what to do about the messages you may see.
Questions
Which computers does BERIFFA Keystone run on?
Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. There is no version for macOS or Linux.
Where do I get the program?
From the BERIFFA Keystone download page on beriffa.com, with a beriffa.com account that has a BERIFFA Keystone service, or from your administrator. It is the same program for every company; the Service Token connects it to your company's server.
Can I work on DEV and PRD at the same time?
Yes. You can be logged on to several systems at once. The coloured badge (DEV purple, QAS orange, PRD neutral) and the status bar show which system a window belongs to.
Do my favorites move with me to another PC?
Yes. Favorites are saved on the system, per user, so they appear on every PC where you log on to that system.
Who can create T-codes?
Administrators (BER_ADMIN) and T-code developers (BER_TCODE_DEVELOPER) in TCOD. Scripts and reports can only be created by administrators.
Installing and connecting
- "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. The installer is not code-signed yet.
- The download page says that your account has no BERIFFA Keystone service yet: the download is for beriffa.com accounts with a Keystone service. Contact us, or ask your administrator for the installer.
- Add Connection fails: copy the token again (it may have been cut off), ask for a new token if it has expired, or update the program if it does not know the token's key.
- "The server at … identifies itself as system …, but this entry expects system …": the entry points to the wrong server. Ask your administrator.
- "BERIFFA Keystone does not open the sign-in page for …": the connection trusts the server's certificate directly, but your browser would warn about it. Ask your administrator for a connection with a normal server name.
Signing in
- "Logon failed": a wrong user name, password or code, or the user is blocked for 15 minutes after 5 wrong attempts. Wait, or ask your administrator.
- Lost phone: log on with a recovery code, or ask your administrator to reset your authenticator app.
- "No ERP user exists": you need a user on that system. Ask your administrator.
- "Your sign-in is no longer valid": log off and log on again.
- "Maximum number of sessions reached (6)": close a session first.
Working with T-codes
- "You are not authorized to use transaction XXXX": the code is not in your list on this system. Your roles do not allow it, it is inactive, or it does not exist. Check the spelling, then ask your administrator.
- "Transaction XXXX is not supported by this program version": update the program.
- "The menu could not be read from system …": the system did not answer at logon, so you see only the built-in transactions. Press F5 on the Main Menu to try again.
- "Data was changed by another user in the meantime": read the data again and repeat your change.
- "Transaction XXXX cannot be started. … The address must start with https://": the T-code's settings fail the program's safety checks and nothing was opened. Tell your administrator.
- "The web browser could not be opened": set a default browser in Windows Settings ▸ Apps ▸ Default apps.
- "The Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is not installed": use Open in Browser, or ask your IT to install the runtime.
Scripts and reports
- "This script has not been approved on this PC yet" or "This script was changed since you approved it": read the script in the Script tab, and click Approve and Run only if you trust it.
- "… the script ended with exit code N": the script reported a problem. Read its output and tell the person who maintains it.
- "Python is not installed on this PC": install Python 3 from python.org with the py launcher option, or ask your IT.
- "… the run could not be recorded in the system's audit log": the script ran, but the system did not answer. Tell your administrator.
- "Report XXXX returned more rows than this system allows": only the first rows are shown. Use the filter, or ask for a narrower report.
- "The file could not be saved": the file is open in another program, often Excel, or you may not write to that folder.
Licence messages
- "The BERIFFA Keystone licence of this system ends on …": information for you; everything still works. Your administrator arranges the renewal.
- "Not saved. This system is read-only because …": you can still log on, display data and run reports. Tell your administrator.
- "Not saved. Your licence allows N active users" (USER): lock a user who has left, set a Valid to date, or ask BERIFFA for a larger licence.
Updates
- "Update Required": your system needs a newer program version. Choose Update Now.
- "No update is offered: …": the update list was not signed correctly, so nothing is installed. Keep working and tell your administrator.
Still stuck?
Open Help ▸ System Status and have it ready, then contact your administrator or BERIFFA support. Support may ask for the log files in %LocalAppData%\BERIFFA\ERP\logs.
